| Caring for Stoneware Pottery
This stoneware pottery has been designed to give good service
when cared for properly. Glazes used are lead-free and the clay
is non-toxic. The pots have been fired to over 2200 degrees F.
to make them strong and non-absorbent. While stoneware stands up
to very high temperatures, it needs to be heated or cooled slowly.
Following are some guidelines for use and care for your Stoneware.
Hot Stoneware can cause burns if handled improperly. Always
use a heat-resistant oven mitt or pad when handling hot Stoneware.
Stoneware may scratch surfaces if moved or dragged. To
protect surfaces, use protective barrier between Stoneware and
surface.
Stoneware can break if bumped or dropped. If
this occurs, use caution as broken pieces can be sharp and could
cause injury.
Avoid extreme temperature changes. Always allow
Stoneware to cool to room temperature prior to adding liquid
or cleaning.
Do not use Stoneware under broiler or
on direct heat source.
Pottery can be used in a microwave however it
needs to contain food or water. Never heat a stoneware pot in
a microwave when it is empty. Always use hot pads to remove the
pottery from a microwave.
When baking, place the baking dish in the oven while the oven
is still cool. Heat the oven, the dish and the food you are cooking
at the same time. Stoneware should not touch the sides of the oven
or oven door when closed. Use hot pads to remove the baking dish
from the oven.
When removing Stoneware from freezer, allow the
Stoneware and frozen foods to thaw completely in refrigerator prior
to placing in a heated oven.
When using a teapot (or a pitcher
for hot fluids), warm the teapot first with warm or
hot tap water – then pour
in the boiling water for your tea. This will avoid thermal shock
AND will also help keep your tea warm for a longer time.
How to Clean: Allow stoneware to cool to room temperature prior
to adding liquid or cleaning. Soak Stoneware in hot water to loosen
baked-on food. Scrape off excess food using a plastic scrubbing
pad or scraper to avoid scratching the surface.
Stoneware is dishwasher safe.
Please use your pottery and enjoy it. Following these simple instructions
will help assure that it lasts for a lifetime. |
